When you have little to spare for a pair of boxing gloves, the Venum Elite boxing gloves can come to the rescue.

In this Venum Elite boxing gloves review, we will go through why this pair of gloves is great for beginners that you can get at an affordable price.

Venum is a boxing gloves brand that tailors towards the general population, and suits more casual and hobbyist type boxers.

Venum categorizes their boxing gloves into 3 different categories, which are: low grades, middle grades, and high-grade.

In this case, the Venum Elites stand as low-grade boxing gloves, since they are more entry-level boxing gloves.

That's not to say that they are of low quality. We have featured the Venum Elites on our list of the 12 best boxing gloves for sparring.

In this review, we’ll discuss the craftsmanship, pros, and cons, and sometimes we’ll add some sprinkles while discussing how the gloves can be improved upon.

TL;DR: Are Venum Elite Boxing Gloves Worth Getting?

The reality is, Venum Elite boxing gloves are entry-level boxing gloves, so you get what you pay for.

It is one of the better boxing gloves out there for its specific price point.

But, if you are looking for top-quality boxing gloves, I would recommend you look elsewhere.

You can see our list of the best boxing gloves for sparring, and pick one of the more higher-end gloves there.

What's great about the gloves is that they're cheap, and you can squeeze out many training sessions, especially if you're more of a casual boxer rather than a professional boxer.

They are pretty durable, and would I would estimate would last you two years of light to medium training intensities.

In comparison to higher-end gloves like the Winning Training boxing gloves, there's no competition.

The Venum Elite boxing gloves are best used for those who are looking for a quick buy that you can use casually.

Pros

  • They go for a fair price.
Cons
  • They are too minimalistic for a professional athlete.

  • Purpose: Heavy Bag / Mitts / Sparring

  • Closure: Large Velcro Enclosure with Elastic

Venum Elite boxing gloves are made so that you can have a good time hitting the mitts, or sparring.

The triple-density foam padding allows the gloves to have great shock absorption and protection for your hands.

The gloves are made from Thailand with skintex leather and reinforced seams. You can say that the quality is reasonable for the price point.

The mitts are available in all sizes; Venum boxing gloves come in from 8oz to 16oz, so even if you have large hands, you won't have any problems fitting into these gloves.

Unfortunately, they do not come in a laced version, however, for more casual boxers this is fine as you will want to have the ease of taking them on and off quickly.

It comes with the more common hook and loop fastener which makes them easy to fix and take off as you train.

The Venum boxing gloves really help you get good gear for little money.

The Venum Elite Boxing Gloves Features And Benefits

How do the Venum Elite boxing gloves add up in terms of their features and benefits?

Padding & Protection

The main thing about boxing gloves is that they do not hurt your knuckles. Venum Elite boxing gloves do this.

So the gloves are adequate in terms of padding and protection.

The padding will do its job to protect you, so if you are finding that you are feeling pain anywhere on your fist, it will most likely be your form.

As an added benefit, the gloves have good wrist protection and sit up quite high on your forearm.

Comfort

The Venum Elite boxing gloves are designed with a mesh panel around the palms to expel heat.

Although it does help with the heat dissipation around your fists, the inside of your gloves will still get quite sweaty, which is something you will have to get used to.

Overall, the gloves are quite comfortable. They aren't a perfect fit, but you won't have any major issues with using them for long training sessions.

I will say that the extra padding sits in the palm area, which feels a little bit uncomfortable.

The thumb area also has a little wiggle space, so if your fist isn't closed properly, you may find yourself injuring your thumb (again, use proper form).

Quality & Durability

As stated earlier - you get what you pay for with these gloves.

These gloves aren't designed for heavy hitters, and won't hold up for long if you are constantly smashing the heavy bag.

Although for hitting mitts, or sparring, they are quite durable and can last a while, considering you take good care of them.

Aesthetic Design

If you love gloves with a heavy design that is distinguishable from afar, then the Venum design will be up your alley.

But if you're more of a minimalist who likes more of the simple things, then these gloves won't be of your taste.

The Venum branding is a snake and does cater more towards Men as opposed to more gender-neutral branding.

Regardless, the aesthetic appeal of the gloves is hit or miss.

The Venum Challenger 2.0 range of boxing gloves is an excellent alternative to the Venum Elite boxing gloves.

It has good padding to provide buffer and support to the hands.

The thumbs are attached for safety, and the leather is decent.

What the Challenge 2.0's have over the Elite's is that the boxing gloves are cheaper.

They both have similar aspects, such as the triple density foam for protection, the anatomical design of the gloves, and the thumb attachments.

If you're on an even lower budget than the Venum Elite boxing gloves, but want quality similar to the Elite's, then this is the better alternative.

It’s not easy to compare mitts of different brands except by experience.

Whereas the Venum Elite has 3 layers to help with protection, the Ringside Safety sparring gloves has 4 - which means superior protection.

Besides the difference in layers, there are minimal differences between the Ringside Safety gloves and the Venum Elite boxing gloves in terms of quality.

They have similar features, such as attached thumbs, hook and loop cuffs, and a longer design.

You could argue that the Ringside Safety sparring gloves have slightly better protection, which makes it the better alternative in comparison to the Venum Elite's.

The Fairtex Muay Thai boxing gloves are a great, higher-quality pick over the Venum Elite boxing gloves.

It's a popular pair of boxing gloves used not just in boxing, but in many different forms of martial arts, especially in Muay Thai.

The gloves aren't made of molded foam, so when you hit the bag it makes a nice, flat contact.

Besides their higher-quality construction, there are other benefits to these high-end boxing gloves.

The finger loops make it easy to get on and off quickly without having to tie laces or worry about getting your fingers caught when you remove them from the glove!

Lastly, the gloves fit small, so when you're looking to get the right fit, keep that in mind.
